Playa del Amor or 'Lover's Beach' is safely tucked away behind Cab San Lucas' most striking natural icon, El Arco (The Arch). The beach curves around the coast, with its 'sister beach' often referred to as Playa Divorcio (Divorce Beach), due to its uneasy waters.
The beach is incredibly picturesque, with sun-baked sand and clear blue-green water. As it's only accessible via water (though this isn't a difficult task given the water taxis and tour boats that frequent the Cabo San Lucas marina), Playa del Amor has earned a reputation for romance.
The beach has become quite the tourist attraction but is still very much worth visiting for its stunning natural beauty. It has been named one of the ten best beaches in Mexico.
Swimming and snorkelling are popular around the calm waters of Playa del Amor, especially as Playa Divorcio on the opposite side of El Arco is notorious for strong currents. Stick to the Sea of Cortez side of Playa del Amor if you want to hop into the water. Playa Divorcio is still perfectly fine for sunning, though, and is a short stroll from Playa del Amor along the sand.
If you do choose to don a snorkel mask, keep an eye out for schools of colourful tropical fish. Also keep your eyes peeled for sea lions who like to hang out on the rocks below The Arch.
The journey from Cabo San Lucas marina to Playa del Amor takes all of five minutes via water taxi, or you can choose the half-hour scenic route on a glass-bottom boat tour. You can jump off the boat straight into the water!
Check the weather on the day of your trip as you may not be able to exit the boat onto the beach if waves are too high. It's also recommended to pack some snacks and water, as there are no vendors on site.
