Ubud Palace, along with another historic structure Puri Saren Agung, sits in the centre of Ubud. It is a large palatial complex that was built a little after 1917 and still houses one of Bali's local royal families.

When visiting the palace, you can wander around at your own pace, taking in the various Balinese architectural styles, stone carvings and opulent ornaments. There are a few main features of the complex such as the Family Temple, Meeting Room and Gamelan Room. You can also see an authentic Baron Mask, representing the lion-esque creature considered extremely spiritual in Bali.

This is a great attraction for taking photos and learning a little bit more about Bali, in particular Ubud's history. As it's located in the centre of town, you'll also be in close proximity to a number of Ubud's markets.
