Lisbon Portela International Airport (LIS)
Lisbon’s international airport consistently ranks as one of Europe’s best. Public transport between the airport and city include frequent underground train service with departures continuing until 1am. Bus service is also frequent and can be accessed just outside the arrivals level of Terminal 1. While not usually an option for international passengers with luggage, the airport does offer bicycle rental for use on its lengthy bicycle paths that lead to many areas of the city. Bicycles may be rented at Terminal 1 arrivals near the information desk.
Europe’s oldest capital, Lisbon was settled centuries even before Rome and London. Its long, rich past gives the city a wonderful historic character and intriguing ambiance with beautiful scenery and intriguing surprises around every corner. Handsome buildings hundreds of years old line the quaint streets while ornate fountains and intricate light fixtures decorate the impressive plazas. Colourful limestone homes with attractive terra cotta rooftops climb the surrounding hills creating a uniquely Mediterranean feel for a western European capital.
