Abu Dhabi is one of the Emirates’ two important cities and boasts nearly 10% of the world’s total oil reserves. Because of this it is becoming a leading metropolis, and developing into a welcome holiday destination for tourists. It is a perfect place for active tourists, as there is a plethora of activities available. Those with a higher propensity for excitement should head to Yas Island, home to two new world-class theme parks – Waterworld, the world’s biggest water park with a variety of rafts, slides and ravines, and also Ferrari World. Based on the illustrious car, Ferrari world holds numerous fast rides including its signature ride the Formula Rossa, which is the fastest roller-coaster in the world with a top speed of 150 mph. Along the island is also the Etihad Airways Racecourse where you have the opportunity to take a drive around, and have a time race against friends and strangers alike.
If you are aiming for a more relaxing holiday, head to the Corniche for a walk along the four-mile promenade. There are public picnic areas and many things to see. Look up to see the large Emirates Flag, as big as the size of a bus. Also take a look at the Capital Gate Building. You think the Leaning Tower of Pisa is weird? It has a slant of 4 degrees only. The Capital Gate Building has a slant of 18 degrees, making it an intriguing sight. One of the more popular attractions is the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. The religious building is an imposing structure of grandeur, and it boasts the world’s largest hand-knotted carpet, chandelier and dome. You can see it all up in the air by taking a hot air balloon – a perfect way of ending your trip with a bird’s eye view of UAE’s sweeping landscape.
