Having been lucky enough to be sent to Japan to experience Club Med Sahoro and the infamous ‘powder snow’, we excitedly boarded our direct flight with Cathay Pacific to New Chitose Airport, Sapporo. Only four and a half hours later we could see the snow-covered peaks and landed to a chilly two degrees. After locating the Club Med Sahoro transfer desk and making our way to the bus, we were transferred two and a half hours to the resort and welcomed in enthusiastic Club Med style!
Once checked in, we were able to register for our ski/snowboard groups for the following day, be fitted for our ski equipment and enjoy the HUGE selection of food from the restaurant for dinner. After filling our tummies, we enjoyed a quiet drink in the casual bar/ lounge area and got an early night to be prepared for our first day of skiing.
Following a big breakfast, we hired the ski clothing we needed and joined our ski groups for the first morning of skiing. Depending on what level of ski you are at, Club Med caters from beginners to advanced skiers & snowboarders. The international instructors take out groups of 1-8 persons and really do a great job of teaching and encouraging the groups to learn as much as they can in each session. An afternoon ski lesson was followed by 2 hours ‘free time’ skiing and as night time approached very quickly, we made our way back to the resort where we were able to relax with afternoon tea or a drink at the bar – depending on what you felt like. You can also indulge yourself with a massage at the Club Med spa!
At night, the ski instructors made up the Friday night entertainment by putting on a dance & comedy show followed by a special treat of opening the ice skating rink at the front of the resort where we were able to skate around then enjoy hot chocolate by the fire!
Waking up for our last day of ski, we were over excited to see it was snowing! Adjusting our ski techniques accordingly for the fresh dumping of powder, we enjoyed another full day out of the slopes and enjoyed our final night at Club Med Sahoro with dancing… and of course, karaoke!
Our stay at Club Med Sahoro had emphasised what a fantastic value, family ski holiday destination it is with mini club and kids club, children and adult ski lessons, recreation facilities, an indoor pool and day spa along with night time entertainment for the adults and kids alike – it really does have everything guests need!
