Alaskan Airlines and Virgin America
The merge of Alaskan Airlines and Virgin America has really given Alaskan Airlines the ability to compete for a higher share of the domestic USA market. These two airlines have combined gone up to 1,200 daily departures from hubs such as Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Anchorage. With this merge, customers have more departure time options, more connection routing opportunities, as well as more opportunities to collect frequent flyer points.
Marriott acquires Starwood
The 13.6 billion dollar purchase will create the world's largest hotel company with approximately 5,700 properties worldwide and 30 different brands combined. This is great news, as it will give more opportunities for stocks and shares between the two companies. In the next couple of years they plan to overhaul their loyalty program to include all brands and provide more advantages for those loyal guests.
AccorHotels and FRHI
AccorHotels signed an agreement to acquire FRHI (Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Raffles Hotels & Resorts, and Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts). Accor buying this luxury brand will bring a more verity of properties to its local client following. The advantage of the two companies becoming one is that Accor have a strong market share of the European Market where as FRHI has the North America.
