10 Reasons Why You Should Visit Israel

What do you know about Israel? Conflict, danger, falafel? Well, you are so,so wrong (ok, apart from the falafel, you've got that bit right). I've just spent the last few weeks in the 'Holy Land' and it has completely bowled me over. What a beautiful, soulful country I am currently exploring, and it's got to me so much I just can't help but encourage you all to come and visit too. So, here are 10 reasons, out of the thousands I currently have in my head, to prove to you that you shouldn't listen to what you read. Israel is bursting with things to do.

Dead Sea

Yes, you really do float. Even if you've never been able to float before. It's magic. Or maybe it's because of the density of salt. Either was it is a bucket list experience not to be missed!

Tel Aviv, in particular, may just be one of the most pumping cities on earth. Every corner is dominated by smiling locals and internationals hopping from one hipster bar to another well into the early morning. You may not get much change from a $10 note for a drink, but you will have the time of your life with the people you'll never forget on a night you'll never remember.

Art and Creatives

Israel is a hive for creatives. Art galleries, street art, music, and dance to name a few. Then there is the startup scene. I dare you to not meet someone that isn't doing something amazing on your trip here!

Being a part of the Middle East, Israel is next door to some pretty amazing places. Always wanted to visit Petra in Jordan? Well, you can take a tour from either Jerusalem or Tel Aviv getting you there in just a few hours.

Ladies, just putting it out there, Israeli men have been voted as some of the best looking in the world. Not that we are vain enough to travel to a country just because of its men. Or are we? Jokes aside, the people here are friendly, hospitable, kind and genuinely interested in what you have to say. But, you're not going to know unless you come and visit are you?

Scuba Diving

Head down to Eilat in the Northern part of Israel and you will no longer be admiring the Mediterranean sea, but the world famous Red Sea! Home to some of the best corals in the world, and subsequently, the best scuba diving, it is just another reason you should be booking a ticket to Israel right now!

Beach Life

There aren't many cities in the world where you can walk from the main centre to the white sand beach in less than 10 minutes. But, in Tel Aviv you can! Sip a beer on the beach instead of a bar. Dip your toes in the sea rather than at a desk. Enjoy the vibe an Israeli beach, just make sure you bring your frisbee. It's a serious sport in Israel!

The Desert

Southern Israel is dominated by the Negev desert, covering some 16,000square kilometer, more than half of the country's total land area. Here you can expect fascinating nature reserves, historic sites, monasteries and primeval panoramas. There are ENDLESS sand dunes to be discovered.

Ever heard of Masada an ancient fortification in the Southern District of Israel situated on top of an isolated rock plateau? Well, you have now. It is one of Israel's best hikes, and holds years of history. Wake up at 3am and get there for sunrise, get to the top and look down onto this beautiful country I am now totally in love with.

And the Falafel. Hummus falafel wraps. Falafel flavoured hummus. Hummus flavoured falafel. All of it.

Cathay Pacific will be launching a direct flight from Hong Kong to Tel Aviv soon!
