What better way to soak up the sights than by taking a leisurely ride right up into the sky on the gigantic Wheel of Brisbane? This super-sized Ferris wheel or ‘observation wheel’ towers at almost 60 metres tall and offers 360-degree panoramic views.
Sit back and relax in one of the fully enclosed air-conditioned gondolas and have your camera at the ready to take snapshots of the city from a bird’s-eye view. Riders will enjoy combining sky-high fun with educational insights into some of the historic landmarks that can be observed from the gondola thanks to the audio commentary system in each cabin.
Through the 12-minute ride you can look forward to getting better acquainted with the meandering Brisbane River, the tranquil Botanical Gardens, Brisbane’s highest peak Mount Coot-tha, and more.
The iconic Wheel of Brisbane was designed by the renowned Ronald Bussink, who has over 25 years of experience designing Ferris wheels and similar structures around the world. The Wheel is continually spinning, so sunshine lovers will relish a daytime ride while romantics and night owls might prefer to take in the magic of the city as it sparkles under the night sky.
The Wheel itself is a dazzling sight to behold after dark when it lights up in bright neon colours. Luxury onboard dining and VIP experiences are also available with advanced booking, but general admission doesn’t require a booking.
Nestled alongside the Brisbane River in the arts, cultural and lifestyle precinct of Brisbane’s South Bank Parklands, there is plenty to see and do nearby after alighting from your gondola. Grab a bite to eat at one of the many trendy cafes, restaurants and eateries nearby, have a splash at Streets Beach or don your walking shoes for a stroll along the beautiful Rainforest Walk, where you can experience nature-filled peace and tranquillity in the middle of bustling Brisbane city.
