Book your balcony viewing seat for this year's maddest melee, the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona, Spain. The origins of the run hark back to the 14th century when men would try and speed up cattle using tactics of fear and excitement. Since then the practice has developed into a tradition of the San Fermin Festival.
Each morning at 7.30am during the festival, hundreds of feisty runners line up in the streets dressed in white with red neckerchiefs. For the next four minutes or so, as the runners sprint a kilometre through four streets towards the bull ring with the bulls in hot pursuit, all is complete mayhem. For sheer excitement, chaos and craziness, no event beats it!
