Lang Co Travel Guide
by Claudia Yeung.
Imagine waking up to the sound of the waves crashing, the view of the endless sea on one side and a stunning mountain range on the other, the smell of the ocean... yes, that's what you'll experience in Lang Co on the central coast of Vietnam. It's also only an hour's drive from Danang (which is less than two hours' flight from Hong Kong), which makes it the ideal weekend getaway from Hong Kong.
Despite being away from the bigger cities, Lang Co has a lot to offer! Hop on a bike and explore the village. You'll discover stunning scenery, rugged vistas, lush rice fields, and the rich colors of Vietnamese culture. Golf lovers can tee off at the Laguna Lang Co 18-hole championship golf course. While those who want to learn more about the Vietnamese history and culture can explore the UNESCO Heritage Sites, like the ruins of My Son, the imperial city of Hue, and the delightful old town of Hoi An.
If you're feeling a bit adventurous, navigate the mangroves on a Vietnamese basket boat down the underground river in Phong Nha Caves.
Explore one of the most beautiful lagoons in Lang Co through a boat excursion, and visit fishing village and learn the art of fishing and check out traditional round fishing boats. Walk along Lang Co beach and admire the stunning mountain and seascapes.
There are plenty of accommodation options in Lang Co ranging from simple guesthouses to luxurious beachfront resorts. We stayed in the lush one-bedroom suite at the Angsana - spacious, tastefully decorated, and has direct access to our own sunlit plunge pool! The resort has everything you need - 300m pool, gym, kids club, water sports centre and even meeting rooms. Angsana also has a beach club at the exclusive Canh Duong Beach. They'll provide you with SPF, towels, peppermint spray, snacks, board games, magazines, and even an ebook reader!
Angsana was offering unlimited spa service during my stay. Yes, you read that right... UNLIMITED. The spa features rainmist rooms for its signature hydrotherapy treatments. For the treatments, the spa uses local blends. Try the coffee coco body polish and the oil massage. It's pure bliss!
Eat and Drink:
Overlooking the sea, Saffron at the Banyan Tree serves delectable Thai cuisine. For Vietnamese cuisine, check out Moomba at the Angsana. It's a great place to chill. Seafood lovers will be spoilt for choice in Lang Co. For those who are not afraid to try the local restaurants, head to Lang Co Beach Village and check out the beach shacks for cheap but fresh seafood. For drinks, go to the rooftop terrace of Upper Deck. Watch the sunset while sipping a cocktail.
