United operates code-share flights from New Zealand to both Sydney and Melbourne, for onward daily connecting United flights to the U.S. Operating more than 3,200 flights a day, United and United Express connect to more than 200 U.S domestic and international destinations from its major hubs in the U.S.

Customers flying across the Pacific with United, enjoy lie-flat seating in both United Business and United First, on-demand entertainment in its premium cabins and other improved amenities throughout the aircraft.

United First Seating

United's First Suite features a 4-way lumbar support system offering a seat pitch of 78 inches, and reclines 180-degrees to a truly flat 78 inch bed. Personal space can be easily transformed into individual offices of ample workspace, with access to 110 volt universal power outlet and USB port. There are also numerous stowage compartments available.

United Business Seating

United's Business seats recline 180-degrees to a fully flat 76 inch bed, and feature forward and rear-facing seat configurations. Each seat offers a 4-way lumbar support system and 6-way adjustable headrest.

Dining

Enjoy an extensive menu designed by world renowned chef; Charlie Trotter, teamed with a selection of world-class wines chosen by Master Sommelier, Doug Frost.

Entertainment

United's premium cabins now feature audio and video on-demand entertainment with more than 150 hours of movies and TV programs; a personal 15-inch video screen; Apple iPod connectivity, movies and TV shows on the in-flight entertainment system; and 20 XM-branded radio channels.

United Economy Plus and Economy class

Complimentary United Economy Plus seating (offering up to 5 inches extra legroom) for Mileage Plus Elite and United Global Services members. Alternatively, Economy Plus one-time is available for purchase when checking-in online or at airport.

Seating

United's Economy Plus and Economy cabins feature ergonomic seat bottom cushions, seat fabrics and upgraded amenities. Economy seats feature a fully adjustable headrest and either a 36-inch seat pitch (United Economy Plus) or 31-inch seat pitch (United Economy) with 5 inches recline angle.

Dining

Complimentary meals, soft drinks, tea, coffee and alcoholic beverages available on all trans-pacific international flights.

Entertainment

Additional LCD screens are featured on all Boeing 747 international aircraft throughout the cabin. United offers a full program of movie and audio entertainment with complimentary headsets, as well as a copy of Hemispheres magazine.

Clubs, lounges & alliances

Frequent Flyer Program

United's Mileage Plus frequent flyer program allows members to earn and redeem miles not only by flying United and United Express, but also with any of its Star Alliance partners to many destinations around the world. These qualifying miles also count towards customers reaching Mileage Plus Elite status. When Elite status is reached, customers become either: United Mileage Plus Premier, Premier Executive or 1K customers, who then automatically qualify for Star Alliance Silver or Star Alliance Gold status. A wide range of premium benefits include priority checkin, boarding, and baggage handling, as well as access to 980 lounges around the world.

Lounges & Alliances

Members of the United Red Carpet Club can enjoy continental breakfast or afternoon snacks and  beverages at over 40 locations worldwide including Melbourne International Airport. Reciprocal clubroom privileges are extended to members when travelling on Star Alliance partner airlines. At Sydney International Airport, customers have access to the Air New Zealand International Lounge.

Alliances

United is a founding member of the Star Alliance network; consisting of 26 member airlines; connecting customers to 1,077 destinations in 175 countries worldwide.

The last word

United has completed upgrade modifications across its international fleet of wide body Boeing 747 and 767 aircraft. In 2010, United will commence upgrades to its international fleet of wide body Boeing 777 aircraft.

When travelling between Australia and North America, the baggage allowance is 2 bags of up to 23kg per bag. If your travel itinerary includes a trans-pacific airfare, this allowance still applies on United Airlines flights within the US. Baggage dimensions apply. »Back to top
